National Short Story Day – 2025

National Short Story Day is celebrated to honor the art of storytelling and the power of short stories to express deep emotions, ideas, and experiences in a limited space. Short stories capture moments of life with creativity and imagination, allowing writers to convey meaningful messages through simple yet impactful narratives. This day encourages readers to appreciate literary creativity and inspires writers to share their voices, preserve culture, and reflect society through storytelling, proving that even a few words can leave a lasting impression.

This child is one of my favorites, though initially I didn’t even know who she was or what she did at the many social events where I often noticed her. Later, I learned that she accompanies her father, who is a social activist and an SFI leader. I fondly named her Mishty. She is bold, lovely, and adapts quickly to anyone around her. One Sunday, while I was at Geleyara Balaga School, Haveri, for a drama rehearsal, she came up to me, curious about the tattoo on my hand. She tried to read it, couldn’t, and asked me about it—its meaning, the font, the picture—turning a simple question into a lively conversation. With small chats, shared laughter, and her favorite treat, pani puri, our friendship began naturally. This is not exactly a story, but an introduction to how two frequencies can connect instantly when thoughts, curiosity, and simplicity align.”
