World Environmental Health Day – 2025

World Environmental Health Day, observed in various regions around the world, highlights the essential connection between human health and the health of our environment. This day raises awareness about how factors such as clean air, safe water, proper sanitation, pollution control, and sustainable waste management directly impact the well-being of communities. It encourages governments, organizations, and individuals to recognize environmental health as a fundamental part of public health, reminding us that a healthy planet is necessary for healthy lives. By observing this day, communities reaffirm their responsibility to protect natural resources and promote environments where people can live safely and thrive.

This day also serves as a call to action to address global challenges such as climate change, environmental degradation, and the spread of diseases linked to poor environmental conditions. It inspires countries to strengthen environmental policies, invest in green technologies, and promote behaviours that support sustainability. This day encourages individuals to adopt simple eco-friendly practices—reducing waste, conserving energy, and protecting ecosystems—to contribute to a cleaner and healthier future. Ultimately, it reminds us that safeguarding environmental health is not just a scientific or governmental duty but a shared human responsibility necessary for the survival and prosperity of all.

Today, I feel truly fortunate, as I have been invited by I2OR to participate as a keynote speaker on the SDGs, choosing “Responsible Consumption and Production” for the 16th upcoming international conference. This opportunity means a great deal to me, and I believe each one of us must contribute—whether through knowledge or meaningful actions—to protect our environment and support a sustainable future. Thank you.
